great beginning more input required i like the way this is going will be interested in what others think.
One another subject great granddaddy was a surgeon but his start in life was harsh. Would anyone like to know what happened>???? Oh pity I'm going to tell anyway.
Born 1833 in Rye to a father who was a solicitor James Cooper Procter was an only son his sister Elizabeth a few years older. 1840 his father and sister died through TB James was aged 7 1844 his mother died of Dropsy James was alone aged 11 sent to school he hated it and returned to a town that had been ravaged by death. His immediate family were all dead and his grandfather also died in 1844. James was now the soul beneficiary to the family estate. he was sent to live with a friend of his grandfather's well the son of a the friend actually a surgeon. James was apprenticed to him until he reached the age of 18 the inheritance helped no doubt.
Eventually he qualified as a surgeon and married the daughter of another surgeon in Rye her name was Katherine Dawes Saunders Adamson. Together they set up home in that house the picture I posted earlier. they were blessed with nine children. James was well off his inheritance and his practise gave him a very comfortable life which included a farm and 13 men and boys working for him. he had sold all his property in Rye severing the link finally with the town until recently. In 1901 James was forced to sell everything due to a solicitor who was employed to handle all the families affairs running off to Portugal and taking all our money. In today's figures he absconded with approx 6.37 million pounds. We as a family were left penniless, am i down hearted too bloody right.
That is how the Procter family went from entertaining Kings to nothing in 6 generations, one man ruined us and the irony is now the descendants of that solicitor own and run a coach company not thirty miles from where i live and i see their vehicles everyday talk about rubbing our noses in it.
By the way am i the only author on this site who has been banned from advertising by their local authority because their subject was deemed too salacious? Dead Men Lie was and i wonder why.
More later
